Our Mission

Our mission is to improve the lives of West Africans by providing healthcare education and regular medical services to rural communities in Ghana

  • Transport health educators specializing in general healthcare, basic first aid, hygiene and disease prevention to communities previously beyond the reach of ground based aid agencies.
  • Transport critically ill or injured patients from remote locations directly to medical facilities in a timely manner, thus increasing the odds of survival.
  • Bring doctors, nurses and needed hygiene and medical supplies directly to remote villages.

Medicine on the Move (MoM) will utilize aviation, maritime and land based transportation to provide general health care, emergency response and trauma care, and health care education to isolated rural communities.

MoM will operate with safety and efficiency as primary values, through the development of the water-based Health Education Vessel (HEV). The HEV base will permit delivery of health care personnel and medical supplies to lake-side villages for quick on-site treatment and will allow amphibious aircraft transport of critically ill patients to qualified trauma centers.

MoM will empower West Africans through the ETCHE program (Encourage Training for Community Health Empowerment). Community members will be selected to train as Health Representatives, available to provide first aid to those in need.

MoM will support and enable sustainability of local community resources by partnering with regional health care professionals to furnish a qualified rotating health care staff. MoM will encourage international volunteer participation to allow cross-cultural experiences and shared expertise to build community resources.
